The ‘Scramble’ and ‘Partition’ for Africa.

When Senegal and Nigeria got knocked out of the world cup, I automatically moved to France, because it was the only African team left. Sure the question has been debated on whether they really are ‘African’ being French players but I believe there’s a blood line and we Kenyans know how to claim people. Look at what we’ve done with Obama. During the finals, we were thrilled when France won. I’m sure there’s a child somewhere called Pogba. Then out of nowhere a discussion on colonialism starts, whether or not colonialism was a good thing. I thought we were all high from the win, but this was a group of…

    What happened?

In the past couple of weeks anyone I’ve met looked at me with utter shock and dismay, not to mention the pity in their eyes, and immediately blurted out, ‘what happened?’ As if everyone was reading from a script. The response would result in a back and forth, explaining my demise then the person would blurt out an ‘I’m sorry’ and be on their way, which I found weird especially from lecturers. You just wanted to know what happened, then walk away? It was rather unusual but part of me was just happy they left, until someone else popped up and the cycle continued. I always thought the worst part…

Let’s talk about the Finance Bill

Our generation is very fortunate to have been born in a day and age where we don’t have to fight for fundamental rights that our forefathers did. Though I am alive to the fact that these rights may not be fully realized and have many imperfections we cannot say we are where we were half a century ago. It’s easy to get tired of the news because a great deal of the time we are reminded of the challenges we face as a country. The good days don’t really last as long. A meme lifespan to be precise and we’re on to the next story. (Notice how we’re not longer…

Are you a Social Media Addict?

Social media is wonderful. Especially in this day and age where it is the voice of the voiceless, in many cases. The question however is, are you hooked to it?When I read this concept I thought, it’s impossible to be an addict, that’s for drugs. There however is a scientific explanation to it, just a bit of Biology to convince you. There’s this organic chemical called dopamine in your brain that works with motivating stuff in your brain. It is stimulated by uncertainty making social media a perfect stimulant because you never really know with what’s going to happen with the gram or what’s going to be trending on twitter.…

    Corliss Trishna: CT Creations

In one of my work trips, I bumped into someone who I’d never thought I’d write their story. Not really bumped into since we work together but I hadn’t really booked an appointment for this one. Someone once told me that as a writer you’ll seat in a jav and all of a sudden start talking to the person next to you and just want to take out a recorder and tell their story to the world. This wasn’t substantially similar but who thought I’d get a story on the other corner of the country? Corliss or Collo as we call him (because that ‘r’ and ‘l’ is a problem)…

    Perfect Stranger

When I started writing it was mostly poetry; the tragedy of love I dare say and the loneliness unrequited love brings. It was writing from a point of brokenness (aren’t we all) my, salvation for the girl behind the blinking cursor. Not for the audience. Maybe not for the 12 people who read my work, but for my freedom. For understanding of emotions in a teenagers brain. Later on I started getting an audience and I needed to not ‘seem hurt’ in all my posts. That’s what my readers said. It was bad for business or in this case for a start up blog. I needed to get more content.…

    Red Flags

There’s a gifting with how well we ignore the red flags in our friends lives. There’s always an explanation. He’s just needy, she’s just busy, we’re all grown up and they should understand. It’s interesting how then we live in a world where in less than two months Avicii, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain died. It’s not just dying, they  took their own lives. *** We’re in the kitchen and Melissa* is trying to explain why she wants to kill herself. She has all the reasons, all the explanations, all the logical conclusions. To her I’m privileged to be there ‘in her last days.’ She’s not sorry she wants to…

    East Meets West KE

I was in a jav last week and as the tout reached out for my fare his arm read, ‘I have nothing to loose’. Well heck, you really have nothing to lose if the term isn’t spelled right for one. He may never really know it’s spelled all wrong, I’m sure neither did the tattoo guy. It’s just a cool tattoo that probably gets him the girls, plus his messy locks. Locks seem to have a beard effect these days. Then I met Bobby. I’d go on to describe him but it wasn’t a one on one interview, more of a teleconference, only using whatsapp audios. He’s nothing like the…

    Worth a thought

I may have jinxed last week’s post when I mentioned Jarunda or it’s just those things the universe plans out. Today’s intro is very brief. If you haven’t read last post where we talked about sex and abstinence after featuring Worth The Wait KE, click here This post won’t make sense if you haven’t had a look. Being a response post as heavily voted for on my Instagram, I will not give my position as I may or may not agree with the post but I believe in people being able to air their opinion. Without further ado here’s Jarunda once more… So, let’s do this topic again, only this time, your…
