    Esther Kazungu – Content Creator

    August 26, 2020 /

This week we’re speaking to a familiar face, Esther Kazungu who has made us laugh and think on deeper issues. She was recommended for this segment and here is how our chat went. 1. What is your ‘why’ when it comes to content creation? When I started out I just wanted to make people laugh, but as I grew into the person I am today went by I realized there’s a need to educate young people about so much that’s happening in our country. I also aim to encourage people who are going through certain phases in life thinking they are in it alone. That’s as far as my Instagram,…

Emma Cheruto – Musician and Architect

    August 19, 2020 /

I met Emma in 2015 while we were auditioning for Spellcast Media at Anniversary Towers. She asked me to sing something and the shy couldn’t, five years later she has an album out and is making moves and I am so happy for a sister! We had a small chat and here’s how it went.   1. Did you always know you would be in music scene? No, not at all. I always thought I’d be a fine artist or an illustrator. My mum studied fine art in uni and it was really intriguing seeing her art all over the house. Things changed for me when I went to high school.…

9 tips on how to make instant coffee taste better

    August 17, 2020 /

Now that school is fully online, I no longer have an excuse to stop by Java and Art Café every day to get my morning fix, if anything I barely have time to brew my coffee. I am therefore stuck with instant coffee and life is too short to have boring coffee. Here’s how to make it a whole lot better. Whether you’re working from home, making a quick cup in a busy office, don’t have the time to brew your own coffee or are simply cutting back on a cup worth Ksh. 300 in these tough economic times! 1. Buy a good coffee brand It goes without saying really,…

Maxine Wabosha – Content Creator, International Youth Day 2020

    August 12, 2020 /

Wabosha is without a doubt the most relatable influencer in Kenya. I got to interact with her back in the day at Spellcast Media before she joined the YouTube space and her kindness and humility is renown. She has always been there to open doors for so may upcoming creators and makes a perfect fit to celebrate International Youth Day on its 20th anniversary. I shared a couple of questions from here and there and this is how it unfolded: 1. What did you least expect when you started your YouTube channel? How many people would recognize me from watching my YouTube videos. First of all, I didn’t expect the…

Always tell the truth – Kabi’s diary

    August 10, 2020 /

Part one here *** “I have my big sister’s baby shower can’t make it” I blurted out without much thought. He went silent, probably thinking of a plan B “Oh babe, no, don’t be like that, I know Njoki’s baby shower is on the 26th hun, I saw the poster on IG, next weekend is the 19th. Come on Jaber, I need you there, we can talk and have a great weekend. -(major cringe) Why did I say that! I rub my temples to relax, ‘always tell the truth’ I could hear mum say and what does he mean need? “Look Odera, you’re a nice guy and we aren’t exclusive…

Always keep your options open – Kabi’s diary

    August 3, 2020 /

‘So,’ Shiru asked as she downed the last of her Beefeater, ‘do you think you’ll do it?’ The rest of the ladies looked at me, some with pity because they think I’m a goody two shoes and wouldn’t dare, others excited for because I just might, it was the usual Friday hangout with babes from the office, it had been a rough week and this meant we would probably be out all night having a good time and spend all weekend regretting it. Before I could think of what to say, Naya was back with 6 glasses and shouted SHOTS! And all was forgotten… for now. *** I recoiled in…

    Becoming – Michelle Obama

    July 28, 2020 /

For me becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end. I finally finished this book, a whole year into it being gifted to me and the tears, laughter, eye rolls and pleasant surprises have been wonderful, confusing and a major reality check. There are nights I read until 4:00 am in the morning without a hint of sleep, there were times that it was too heavy, the tears wouldn’t stop flowing in how personal Michelle Obama’s story is. I loved this book because it…

Running 10 km everyday for 30 days – Tuzo Jonathan

    July 22, 2020 /

I watched an IGTV video recently on Tuzo’s project 30, I was definitely intrigued, you mean someone can run 10km everyday for a month? On a good day I do 8km, and it’s not all a run, on a good week I’ll go thrice. What does it take then to run 10 km everyday? 1. Tell us a bit about yourself, what random thing should everyone know about you? Tuzo Jonathan is the only child in a close-knit family of three. He is a 2nd-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. A random thing is many people consider me an extrovert but I consider myself an introvert. I…

    What to Watch: Showmax

    July 18, 2020 /

I recently had the chance to get back on showmax, and I am so amazed at the content they have since my last subscription. They are giving Netflix some major competition since they are currently tailor made for Africa and as Africans, we are becoming smart enough to follow platforms that support content by us and balancing out with shows we love internationally. The platform offers a diverse range of movies, series, comedy specials and documentaries and after all my raving on Instagram about how awesome Showmax is here is a list of my favorites and what is on my watch list. Series 1. Love Island I happened to find…

Slay Health – A Guide to Vaginal Health by Lilian Jebet

    July 15, 2020 /

Synopsis Few women have the courage to talk about vaginal hygiene like Lilian Jebet does in this book. Talking to girls entering adolescence on what to expect and how to manage the new developments is key in ensuring wholesome growth and development of confident women. Lilian believes that there is everything to be proud of being a woman, and taking control of one’s vaginal health brings a special kind of beauty and esteem. Meeting Lilian and learning she’s authored a book while still in her twenties inspires me. Her book is a guide to vaginal health something I wish I could buy for my teenage self because the information in…
