5 Netflix Series to binge watch while on holiday
It’s holiday season and you might find yourself having a couple of hours to binge on a show guilt free. Here’s five series to have a look at: 1. The Queen’s Gambit The hype behind this limited series is worth it. It’s about chess but not entirely, it’s more about life’s journey and how we can be the protagonist or antagonists of our stories. I absolutely love that it is based on a book. I should warn you bingeing this one won’t be easy because there’s so much emotion that is evoked in the world of the chess board. Seeing Ms. Harmon from a child with a suicidal mother, to…

Velma Mareba – Creative and Make Up Lover
After my interview with Beryl aka Belnizzo (read it here) I got a recommendation to feature her lovely sister a creative, make up lover, performing arts and Afro-centric enthusiast. Here’s how our chat went: 1. What’s one random thing people should know about you? That I am really good at doing impersonations. LoL 2. If you were to use one make up brand forever which one would it be? It has to be Maybelline. 3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation? My go-to foundation for myself as well as my clients is a medium- coverage foundation due to its natural finish and it is also ‘buildable’…

Elizabeth Njambi – CEO and Founder Wakilisha
Back when I was at Kenya Model United Nations I had the amazing chance of meeting women who hold up other women. My confidence in leadership was made possible by a number of them including Elizabeth Njambi CEO and Founder of Wakilisha that you’ll know more about from this interview. 1. What inspired the establishment of Wakilisha? Two things, actually. In my last year of law school at the University of Nairobi, I attended my first legal aid exercise as a member of the Students’ Association for Legal Aid and Research (SALAR). I had always been scared of attending legal aid exercises because I couldn’t live with myself if I…

Are you happy?
The wild thing about life is we somehow believe that all the things ‘meant’ to make us happier are external. When we feel unhappy we are told to; meet up with some friends, go on a road trip, go to a new restaurant and try a new meal, go to the gym… then the world presents a situation where you can’t escape to find this happiness. A pandemic meant limited movement and erasing everything we thought was normal. Now you can’t do all the things that are meant to make you happier. You have to sit in a house by yourself or with some people you share a blood line…

Ali Barbour’s cave restaurant
When you head to Diani this is definitely a stop you should make. They have an amazing service where they send a van to pick you up and drop you afterwards at your hotel or villa, all you need to do is make a reservation. Ali Barbour is a cave restaurant, yes it’s in a cave! It is breathtakingly beautiful. Part of me feels you go there to experience the ambiance. Noting I am not the biggest cave fan, I think this is a great experience for anyone. Watch it here from minute 3:20. They specialize in sea food and are pretty famous for it. I wasn’t keen on trying…

Esther Kazungu – Content Creator
This week we’re speaking to a familiar face, Esther Kazungu who has made us laugh and think on deeper issues. She was recommended for this segment and here is how our chat went. 1. What is your ‘why’ when it comes to content creation? When I started out I just wanted to make people laugh, but as I grew into the person I am today went by I realized there’s a need to educate young people about so much that’s happening in our country. I also aim to encourage people who are going through certain phases in life thinking they are in it alone. That’s as far as my Instagram,…

Emma Cheruto – Musician and Architect
I met Emma in 2015 while we were auditioning for Spellcast Media at Anniversary Towers.
