Stuck
I sat there waiting,
He was to come home,
He called, he wrote,
Something he didn’t do for days.
I missed him,
Too much to think straight
Or realize that I stood for 4hrs
Untouched
Unmoved
Waiting
I heard several trains screech
Coming up to a halt
My face lit up
My back straightened
But he wasn’t among them
“Just a few more minutes”
I said inside
“He’ll be here any minute”
The voice came again
“He promised didn’t he?”
Two hours later…
The final train docked
And as the last man alighted
I saw him
I saw my love
Endowed in his amour
His head well above his shoulders
He certainly was my man
But I didn’t smile
I didn’t run to him
I didn’t have the strength to
He already had another in his arm.
